Two-wire surge protectors have stepped voltage limitation. While the slow power protection is put into operation, the emerging overvoltage is limited by the fast protection.

In terms of voltage limitation, two types are produced.

It is recommended to connect the GND pin to the protective earth by the shortest possible route. If the earth lead is too long, the effectiveness of the protection is reduced and the reaction time is prolonged. When Pmax is exceeded, the protection short-circuits. The protection guarantees EMC according to 89/336 EEC. The protection is bipolar.

The IN terminals are connected to the line where overvoltages are expected to occur, the OUT terminals are connected to the protected equipment.
